Maple Beds Mattress Review | Canadian-made, GOTS Certified Organic Cotton bed-in-a-box

A good mattress is key to a happy, healthy life, as I recently discovered. And I know that statement feels a little dramatic and cliche, but I mean it! When hubby and I switched to the Maple Beds mattress from our previous mattress, the difference was night and day. I think we’d just gotten so used to our old, lumpy mattress that we didn’t realize how much it was affecting our sleep and quality of life. But who is Maple Beds? They’re a Canadian eco-luxury mattress company selling GOTS-certified organic, ethically-made-in-Canada mattresses. Keep reading to learn more about them and my experience sleeping on a Maple Beds mattress for the last several weeks!

Also, full disclosure, this is in partnership with Maple Beds, who sent us this queen-sized mattress in exchange for a review.

Maple Beds mattress review

Easy shipping and unpacking

This sustainable mattress comes in a box and unrolls super easily (see my unboxing video here) and inflates quickly to be ready for use.

It has handles on the sides for easy maneuvering so you can more easily avoid any back strain. Easy handling is a big deal for me as I live in an apartment with limited space for moving big objects around, and have a previous back injury that makes lifting big, heavy items a little sketchy. So the ease of handling was super helpful!

Comfort and support

Pocket coil mattress - up to 1,440 pocketed support coils arranged in 3 zones. Pocket coils can help reduce movement transfer and keep you cool which is BIG plus for me since I sleep with a weighted blanket which can make me a little too toasty at night. And especially now that it’s summer, staying cool is a big deal!

This mattress also has a pillowy top layer that makes the bed super comfy, while still offering a lot of support. This combo is super important to me as I have an old back injury and really soft mattresses can mess up my back, but I find really hard mattresses a bit uncomfortable.

Sustainability

Between being ethically made in Canada, GOTS certified organic and having no toxic fire retardants according to their website, Maple Beds checks my boxes for sustainability and I’m thrilled that such a sustainable mattress option exists!

Pricing

This mattress is priced very competitively considering all the sustainability features and ethical manufacturing. And compared to other Canadian-made pocket coil mattresses, the queen size rings in within a couple hundred dollars of similar styles of mattresses I found online (plus you can get 10% off a Maple mattress with the code ETHICAL10 until June 30, 2021 and their mattress is on sale at the time of publishing this, so you can possibly save hundreds of dollars on a mattress!

My experience sleeping on the Maple Beds mattress

I really only have good things to say about this mattress! What an upgrade from our previous bed, and I am super thankful that I didn’t have to compromise my personal values or preferences to get such a good experience. The bed is comfortable yet supportive, looks nice (I know that shouldn’t matter but it kinda does!),

On a more serious note, having a good mattress resolved a lot of my sleep problems and back problems literally overnight - I didn’t realize how much my old mattress was affecting my sleep.

I do still struggle with some insomnia since much of that is biological and isn’t going to be resolved by anything external. But the bouts of insomnia have been seriously reduced since a messy sleep schedule was so easily triggered by my old mattress (even if I got my sleep schedule on track before I would easily wake up in the middle of the night if my husband moved around, and that could mess up my schedule, among other reasons) and I simply don’t have most of the sleep issues I used to have thanks to better comfort, temperature control and reduced movement transfer.

So again, only good things to say. It’s a great mattress. That’s all there really is to it haha!

Is Maple Beds worth it?

In my opinion, yes! Between being comparable price-wise, ethically and organically made, a Canadian company and performing so incredibly well, I personally think Maple Beds is worth a go!
